this week’s illustration friday word is: cracked. as i explored my feelings and ideas around cracked i took lots of photos and made a little video of the process:
i had leonard cohen’s words rolling around in my mind as i worked on it, “there is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in”. when we’re feeling cracked or broken it all feels so hopeless but really those are some of the most powerful moments in our lives because we can let a lot of light in. or let a lot of light out, depending on where we are at. we can drop those shells and walls and open up to what is really there.
cracked heart
it would be so helpful to remember this more often. a good friend reminded me last weekend that holding on creates suffering. when we can let life be as it is without wanting it to be different, and also without wanting it to stay the same, everything is so much easier. flow.
also, my japanese plum tree is blooming. how beautiful is this?
beautiful blooms
the whole tree covered in these blooms. i’m going to go out there right now and enjoy it.

Thanks Andrea, for this beautiful reminder. I’ve been moving through, and releasing some really difficult feelings, and it’s good to remember that I’m just cracking open the outer shell, to get to the juicy inner heart. I just made a collage yesterday, and it has a picture of that juicy inner heart, right in the middle. Another reminder of where I’m heading, and who I really am. YAY!!
Andrea — this is beautiful — just really, really beautiful. Thank you for this gift. Thank you for sharing your heart and these amazing lessons. You are touching lives in ways that are really magical, and so very unaware in many ways. The best kind of touching sometimes! Beautiful, beautiful you!
Andrea, Thank you for the Facebook invitation. We seem to be walking similar paths, making peace with what is, letting go of wanting, replacing discomfort with peace. Your videos are encouraging for one who has that as part of her plan but hasn’t quite gotten there yet, as are your workshops. An admirable blending of the entrepreneurial with the spiritual. Happy to have found you.
