it’s sunday – which means it’s creating dreams come true day. creating dreams come true is a free ongoing e-course and creative community to support you in living your dreams. if you are new, please feel free to join in. the more creative dreamers the better!
we’re already at the end of our first dream-filled month, and it’s time for a party.
first we want to acknowledge ourselves and the courage it takes to believe in ourselves and our dreams. we live in a world where this is not considered normal and just by being a part of this, you are being a part of change. change towards a gentler, more loving, more dream-filled world. in coming together in this group to support each other dreaming we are making a difference.
you may say i’m a dreamer
but i’m not the only one
i hope someday you’ll join us
and the world will live as one
- john lennon
sometimes it feels like the dream is a long way from coming true and we want to wait until then to celebrate it. but why wait? isn’t it awesome that we have the dream? and isn’t the dream pretty awesome as it is right now… as an idea in your head or a plan written out on paper or a few steps along the way towards completion? just having a dream is a beautiful thing that is worth celebrating.
we also want to celebrate ourselves for being dreamers, for having a dream and being willing to share it and be a part of this group.
we deserve a party!
so this week’s assignment is to acknowledge and celebrate yourself and your dreams. there are many ways to do this, such as:
- throw a party
- take a nap
- get a massage
- sleep in late
- take a bubble bath
- go out to your favourite restaurant
- create a certificate for yourself acknowledging for far you’ve come
- buy yourself flowers
- buy or make yourself a card
- bake a cake
- have a spa day
- buy yourself a beautiful piece of jewellery
- make yourself a gift
it can be simple or luxurious, loud and boisterous or quiet and peaceful. (i am a real big fan of quiet and peaceful celebrations) if you are not used to celebrating yourself this may be difficult and it’s ok to start small. we may feel like it’s selfish or conceited to celebrate ourselves. or we may worry about being judged by the people around us for appearing big-headed or strange. your celebration can be small and quiet if that is what you are most comfortable with. if you want to be quiet with this, one great way to celebrate would be to make a cup of tea and sit down with your success tracker and fill in a few pages. look back over the last few days and notice how many things went your way and call them successes.
creative dream assignment: find a way to acknowledge and celebrate yourself and your dreams and do it! report back next sunday.
creative dream check-in:
meet in the comments section below to share your experience with creating change and how it felt for you, and let everyone know what’s new with your dreams.
my check-in:
while i do love bubble baths, i always take them at night before bed and associate them with being sleepy. so, last sunday morning i took a bubble bath instead of a shower. i added some orange and lemon essential oils to the honey bubble bath i was using to make it more of an energizing wake-up bath. it felt very indulgent to take the time for a bubble bath in the morning, as i am a morning person and mornings are usually the most productive part of my day. i feel like in doing this i gave myself greater permission to relax and take it slow.
another change is that i started doing yoga. i have not done yoga in about 8 years. part of my 2010 vision is walking at least 25 km a week but i am seeing how this varies widely with the weather. when it’s nice out i can easily walk more than 25km. when it’s not nice out, this is a challenge. i am learning that walking fits in with my life some days, and not others, and something else is needed on those other days. in comes the wii fit. i’m sure it’s not for everyone but i am in love with it. i am doing mostly yoga, with some strength, balance and aerobic exercises, morning and night. i feel great, i notice how this change has me feeling more stretched out and in tune with my body. i feel that even when the weather is nice, i want to do some yoga along with my walks.
with these changes, it’s important to look at the small shifts they can create. it’s not about changing everything in one fell swoop (unless that feels comfortable for you right now) but about making subtle gentle shifts that can build on each other.
sometimes the small shifts continue to be small and hardly noticeable until one day you wake up and realise you are living lots of dreams come true. sometimes small shifts open up new possibilities and very quickly become large shifts. neither way is better. each one of us is a unique being with unique dreams and will create a unique path.

andrea schroeder creates creativity workshops, downloadable creativity kits, art and guided meditations to support you in knowing and remembering that you are a creative being and you can create anything.

Hello Andrea
Ive been making some changes that feel really good. I was invited to take a stall at two seperate craft fairs, but Ive been bold enough to say no this time – as much as Id like to, I realise the amount of work involved in creating good stock for a good stall is way too much for me right now, and it felt good to acknowledge that and to gift myself some much needed space and time for my illustration work.
Ive also started yoga again, it has a profound effect on me in all areas, and although there aren’t any local classes suitable for me, Ive got 3 great DVD’s to work from and make half hour to an hours space every other night to do it – that feels great!
I think for me, the biggest change is saying No more – I dont mean this in a negative sense, I mean it in the sense of it creating good results for me, or using it to facilitate change. Ive always been good at getting involved in lots of fun stuff, but sometimes that can turn into life clutter and so Im making decisions to clear up that stuff and make room for the important things in my life and for new opportunites to flow in.
Thanks for the party invitation – Im off to dream up something special!
Much love, you are a glowing angel!!!

This week I tried showering at night so I’d have more time in the morning…but found out I really didn’t enjoy how I felt all day without showering in the morning. So I ended up switching other things around instead…

This week I tried a few new things, like washing my hair more often, shopping at a new store, and making a new recipe. It was SO fun! I’ve found some new favourite habits!
for our change (my husband helped me with this one), we drove about 13 different ways out of our neighborhood. and i experimented with different ways to go places. there are a lot of different ways to drive out of our neighborhood, and i found myself being more aware of the decorative natures of the different houses in our neighborhood, such as the doors, and the yard ornaments, and the porch flags and stuff. plus, relatively speaking, i’m fairly new to this area (we moved here fifteen months ago) so in a way it’s like exploring the area. i figured out a new way to get into my favorite grocery store. it was a fun challenge and i really enjoyed it
for my change, I’ve decided to take more bubble baths. I also am using perfume more often when I go out, and recently started wearing eye liner! Small changes, I know. But next week I may go as far as getting a tattoo! So there is my change for you!
Also, I’m thinking about giving up red meat.
julia that is all wonderful – knowing what to say no to is so important!
lee ann and meg i loved reading about your changes on your blogs.
elizabeth sounds like the new routes are a lot of fun!
diana i love your changes! i think bubble baths can solve a lot of problems
let us know when you get the tattoo!
The new things I did this week:
Created a new blog – I wanted to separate my creative adventures journey from my regular blog posting. I originally started the original blog to be about sculpting with polymer clay, needle felting, and promoting my clay art, and I figured I should get back to those things. Here’s a link to the new blog:

I also started a new group on Facebook called Designing With Polymer Clay. We’re already up to 74 members since I started it yesterday!
I created my first query letter. Something new for me. And I changed my dental hygiene routine to use the new Sonicare which is awesome. We also explored an area new to us, just to look at houses. I listened to some new music, started reading a couple new books. That’s about it.
)
excellent ginny, you’re doing fantastic!
Finally catching up on my assignments! For this assignment, I tried a change in attitude and also infused a little Thai into my week!

i especially love the change in attitude jennifer.
I’m a little behind on the assignments, but I decided just to pick up in mid stream
My change for this week is to still use my hands in a direct creative way but in a totally new form of creative and soul expression. I did my first touch drawing session and shared the experience on my blog!

I’m a little behind as well, but here is my change report
