creative journaling: you have something amazing inside you

my friend reta has amazing enthusiasm for life.   always exploring new ideas, she saw what i was doing in my creative journals and decided to try it for herself.   i just love what she did here!   it’s amazing how much can be expressed with some colour and a simple drawing.

when reta showed this to me, i asked her if i could share it here because i think it’s such a perfect illustration of the beauty and power of creative journaling.   you don’t have to have a lot of experience with it to get a lot out of it.  if you sit down to try it, something amazing will come out because you have something amazing inside you.

your something amazing is always on the lookout for an opportunity to come out.  creative journaling is an opportunity.

i am a sprout

creative journal page: happy growing sprout

this is what reta had to say about it:

After coming home from one of Andrea’s workshops, I felt that my perspective on my own life was shifting.   No longer did I feel that I had wasted years needlessly, I started appreciating what I had learned through the ordeals that I faced, the challenges I overcame.  A seed is truly a symbol for potential, and for me, it felt like after a long winter, it was time to grow.   After listening to Andrea, I came to realize that I was rather impatient with myself and I wanted to express something, a reminder to be in the moment more.   So I drew a sprout – that doesn’t regret not having pods yet, doesn’t fret when the blossoms will come – just trusts that in time all things are possible.

(I suppose grow a bit each day is a bit of sage advice?)

and i want to see your something amazing!  if you are a creative journaler, comment here with a link to some of your work.

if you aren’t a creative journaler, but feel like you might like to try, please consider this your invitation to the world of creative journaling.

let’s inspire each other.

This is so great! I used to keep a sketchbook when I was in High School and early college. I was actually looking through one recently. I had forgotten that I could draw! The book was full of little drawings that were very good…and for years now I have been saying I can’t draw. Hmmm…maybe something I need to revisit? :)

Lovely words. I’m not as creative in my journaling. I actually haven’t written in my physical journal since my best friend passed away. I have her picture and a memorial card on the last page I wrote. I’m sure this means something to me but I will start writing in it again when I feel the time is right. For now I journal online.

Lee Ann, I also used to LOVE drawing when I was younger. I wish I had some of my drawings still. I’m starting to draw again by doing ATC. Have you heard of them? They are pretty cool.

Savvy.

lee ann i always thought i couldn’t draw either, isn’t that funny? i do find bringing creativity and play into my journaling makes it much more powerful.

lee ann (savvyrogue) (it’s great to have two lee anns here!) i’m so sorry you lost your best friend. sending love and gentleness to you. i find the times that i take away from journaling always end up being important to me. and come back to it with something new.

I started recently in the world of creative journaling, I have been journaling for years and years though, but the creative and visual aspect really appeals to me..
I have an inspiration journal too, the one that I am sharing a link to is from a journaling prompt I did on my blog..
