very true diana! i write artists statements, and then re-write them fairly often. in that case, for me, the commitment is about exploring my potential as an artist and staying with it wherever it happens to go. on the other hand it’s so important to know what your signature is.

Another commitment is as an artist, I’m trying to develop my “signature”. I have my own style and flow, but now I just need to find that one thing that separates my work from that of others.

Hi everyone! My dreams got a huge lift this week! I actually had a blog auto-post on Sunday…to keep on schedule, but I was out of the country and couldn’t check in here :)

My dreams needed a little travel…and when I got to Dublin…Scotland had come for a rugby match! I had been feeling a bit sad that I was going over to that part of the world but wasn’t going to be in Scotland. So the world brought a bit of Scotland to me!!! Talk about a sign!

hi monica, nice to meet you. i’m not sure i see what you mean. the way i see it – if you’re doing it, if you’re giving it time and energy and space in your life, then you’re committed to it. sounds like you are committed to rediscovering your creativity – you’re doing it, and all is well. sometimes we are so committed in other areas we don’t have enough time, energy and space for our dreams in our lives.
perfection is definitely a dream killer, especially any dream relating to creativity.

Hi, just found your blog. I’m not sure about this one – commitment. Right now, in rediscovering my creativity, I find that I don’t need to commit to time for it or whatever. My soul NEEDS it it doesn’t require commitment, If that makes sense. Perhaps one thing is making a commitment to allow imperfection.

This was a great post, right on the heels of a difficult decision I had to make this week which hurt a dear friend a little now, but avoided the possible loss of this friendship at a later date.

This past week I got sick, so I let myself have a day off while I nursed my cold. I am trying to reorganize my week to include two other projects I’m working on and which give me life. So my goal is to spend at least 2 days a week on those two other projects, and the rest of the time can be devoted to my business (the business is so intense it easily takes over everything). And to allow myself to take a day off when I really need one, a practice I did when I was a simple homemaker, only recently… :-)
