you can do it: dreams come true

glitter goddess mo: writer of books

remember mo?  in february, i posted a creative visioning spotlight on mo to share with you how she was working with the material in my create a map to your dream come true electronic workbook.  in her spotlight she was talking about the dreams she was working with on her map and mentioned this one:

Write My Book – long-threatened but actually a project underway now I’ve sorted out how to progress courtesy of my dream visioning board.

remember – she wrote that in february of this year.  recently mo emailed me to let me know that she’d really taken her vision board to heart, and acted on it – and that her book was already finished and available for sale!

how beautiful is that?

so i wanted to share her update with all of you as a reminder and an inspiration that not only do dreams come true – dreams can come true a lot faster than we think when we open our hearts to them.

can you tell me about the process of taking your board, and your ideas, to heart, and then acting on them?

I’ve been intending to write a book for ages and completing the board seemed to open the way energetically to focus on this project. I have the board up on the wall in front of my workspace so it’s continually reminding me of my commitment.  And I enjoyed creating it so much, it seemed silly not to follow it through.

I had intended to write a longer book over a more prolonged period but a couple of things happened which seemed to call to my heart to go in a different direction. I saw an affirmation about finance which made me feel really emotional, and I was curious about the emotional block I felt. Around the same time, I had an astrological transit report which advised strongly to focus on my book, but also confirmed that the astro formation involving Saturn (which had been in place when a traumatic incident happened for me when I was 4.5 years old) was operating again at age 62. I really felt I needed to clear this stagnant energy out and it suddenly occurred to me to bring my three passions together – crystals, mandalas and astrology.    The idea was to align my astro songlines with current astro energies to release the emotional pain. And it worked a treat.  The power of this work was amazing, as I can no longer feel the pain I carried for so many years.

you call yourself an ace procrastinator.  so how did you manage to finish writing a whole e-book?

Once I’d completed the first astro-crystal-mandala project, it really seemed as if this is what I’d been working towards over the past few years. The name just popped into life in my head. It just needed an “Aha!” moment to almost spring into written form overnight and I decided to be as flexible as possible by using an e-book, PDF format.  All my experiences and teaching over the year seemed to suddenly come together in aligning crystals, mandalas and basic astrological information.  I’ve also been doing projects – writing, art work – in line with astrological energies – the New Moon, Full Moon and so on.

It is really powerful work, as if once you tune into the universe it will respond gangbusters.  I was aware that Mercury would be moving out of retrograde mode and going forward again on 12th May (retrograde is when it looks as if Mercury is going backwards, even though it isn’t, and it’s renowned for making communications difficult, causing electronic stuff-ups, etc., ) and that there would be a New Moon on 14th May, a great time for getting ideas going.  So I saw the retrograde time and period leading up to the New Moon as a time to get the project completed.  It gave me a deadline (self-imposed, lol), and I also decided to focus on the book and set aside any distractions, such as answering e-mails or reading general stuff.

It was really difficult but I think having a self-imposed deadline really helped, as it’s the first time I’ve ever set a deadline for a creative process.

did any creative fears pop up along the way and if so how did you work through them?

Did creative fears ever pop up!  I got towards the end, and then suddenly had all sorts of thoughts springing up such as “What makes you think this makes sense?”, “Don’t you think you’re right off the planet with this work?” and “What will people think?”  I really ground to a halt for a couple of days, felt very lethargic and kept finding things to do around the home to procastinate rather than write.  Then I thought how ridiculous it was to come so far and chicken out.

I decided that I’d let myself down if I didn’t finish this project. It was hard going but I’d also created another mandala with crystals and my astrological profile to focus on writing my book and releasing fears and this helped enormously too.

how does it feel to have this done?

I have to say it feels fantastic.  I think it’s the first time in the whole of my 62 years that I’ve finished a project without cramming everything into the last 24 hours.  I really focused on sitting down every day and writing as much as possible, so that it was a far more measured approach than my usual, frantic, last-minute rush to finalise projects.  I feel terrific in myself and very proud of myself for bringing something like my book into a concrete form, because astrologically speaking, I’m a real airhead – I have seven air signs (so lots of ideas) but no earth signs (so practical stuff is really, really hard).

I’d really encourage creative people to stay focused, to recognize negative fears and work on releasing them and, also, I think, to just bash on regardless and ENJOY the creative process. I mean, creativity is meant to be joyful and inspiring and awesome.  Have fun while creating and remember to tell yourself what a wonderful person you are, because each of us really is so special and unique.  I’m also inspired to say this because I heard a story today of a woman discouraged from being creative in her early years because of financial pressures and finally being recognized in her ‘sixties.

So just DO what you are drawn to do, in however small a way, and DON’T listen to negative comments, DON’T put things off until later, keep around you people who are going to support you and nurture what your heart and soul are calling for you to do. My friends have been wonderful – encouraging, supportive and giving me so much love. And finally create a Dreamboard because it focuses your intent in a visual, concrete form, and it continues to inspire you once you’ve completed it.

and here’s the book:

the book!

the book!

you can find mo at soul songlines: soul work for cosmic singers (isn’t that a beautiful name? i love it) where you can also purchase the book.

how exciting is this?  i love hearing about people who are doing what they want to be doing.  i love watching dreams grow and bloom.  yum.
