creativity 101

creativity 101 is an introductory email-course for tapping into your creative genius.

eventually i do want to bring some of my more advanced and in-depth creativity workshops online – with virtual classrooms so that everyone can get to know each other and have that close-knit lovey-dovey creative community as a support system for rich creative self-exploration. so as i am getting started on creating that creativity incubator classroom space i am noticing how important it is to know that you are not in this alone.

and you are not.  there are loads of you, all around the world, discovering, exploring and empowering your creative geniuses.  so i wanted to help everyone get to know each other and hear a bit about each other’s experiences.  this can be so helpful when it comes to exploring new creative territory!  knowing that others are having similar experiences helps to ground you in your experience and really receive all of the amazing gifts of opening up to your creative genius.

so here are comments from some of the emails i have received about creativity 101:

After many stalled attempts, I’ve finally been able to start the creativity course! Being a shift working mom of 3 young adults in various sports with a shift working husband, I sometimes find it difficult to be able to relax and find some quiet “me” time..I had tried to squeeze in week 1 when you first sent it out, but knew that i wasn’t giving it the full attention that it deserved and so I have stayed with week 1 in order to gain the full experience..
Tonight I was able to separate myself from the noise of the world around me long enough to breathe deeply and focus on the meditation. Once I started journaling and writing my dreams down, it was as if floodgates inside of me opened up and thoughts that I wasn’t consciously aware of and dreams that had been long forgotten flowed through me into the computer (where I’m journalling)..it was a fantastic, uplifting, empowering experience..
although I may be a bit behind in this course, i just wanted to say thank you and express my gratitude for leading me through this journey to reconnect with my creative genius..the meditation is soothing, entrancing, empowering, calming, motivational and beautiful..
Seems to be a wellspring of activity since I stepped in to your on-line course.  From making almost 3 sets of windchimes, to the ablilty of just being still with the meditation work you provided.
Wow really love the bonus homework. Didn’t realize how much fear I had in trusting my creativity. Such great discoveries in doing this.

you make me feel hopeful and uplifted and positive.

Wow.  That’s all I have to say about this.  Thank you so much for your workshop. It is so accepting and encouraging and I’m only on week 1! Plus, you have the calmest voice I’ve ever heard. Perfect for the meditation. Sorry about the gushing, I’m just so excited. This workshop has come to me at a perfect time. I’m a writer, and I’m not necessarily struggling with writer’s block or anything like that, just a sort of…pressure. I put myself under pressure and then I can’t write anything. But I’m going to learn to trust my creativity with your help! :)

I have been at such a wall with my art and expressing my creativity/feelings thru it. The workbooks are exactly what I thrive on. They help me spiral and express.

Wow, just went through the workbook and as usual, it is wonderful, it is you and your compassion to help others find their creative spirit that zings!

Thank you so much for including what I wrote in your post. This project has meant so much to me.
I know I am a creative person, but to embrace myself as a creative genius has meant so much more. I take pictures all time…and write every day.
I just finished my 32 day process of writing to find my voice, and I feel like I have. The process was nothing short of miraculous for me. Here is my last post of the process inspired by you! http://blog.joannarothman.com/2010/08/01/completion-and-intuition.aspx
